Summary: A sculpture is a form of visual arts. It involves carving, modeling and casting in stone, wood, ceramics, metal and other materials. Precious materials such as silver, gold and jade may be used for small works, while common materials such as wax, terracotta and hardwoods are used to design sculptures for wider consumption. Sculptures are distinguished from each other in the type of relief used, the carving technique and size. Modern sculptors experiment with a variety of materials and innovative approaches to the creation of sculptures. Modern sculpting includes light sculpture, sound sculpture, street art sculpture, kinetic sculpture, etc. This textbook elucidates the modern concepts, novel techniques and latest trends around prospective developments with respect to the art of sculpting. Such selected concepts that redefine this art have been presented in this book. It will serve as a reference to a broad spectrum of readers.
